The Kidnapping of Miss X

Hello world. My name is Miss X and I desperately need to tell you my story. All I ask is a few minutes of your time. The whole thing began while hanging out with my friends, minding my own business. A strange woman with curly brown hair happened along and completely changed my life as I knew it.

You need to know that I've been thought of as classy and stylish and rather well put together. I was used to being lusted after until "she" came along and ended it all, from complete freedom to utter insubordination in the ca-ching of a cash register. I was snatched from my home and forced to live in a Florida condo. OK, so the condo was pretty nice but I was frequently stuffed in a dark, cramped place with the other kidnap victims. Pretty brutal treatment after being so admired and displayed.

The Naked Truth

There are some people who, no matter how much weight you lose or how good you look, never give you a compliment. Perhaps they are so self-absorbed they don’t notice you are slowly melting away. Maybe we remind them of their own dieting attempts and repeated failures so they ignore the thinner you. On the other hand, there are friends and family who think what you are doing is absolutely marvelous and praise you up and down. (Don’t you just love it?)

Viral Dieting

All things viral are big these days.
The wiktionary says viral means: A video, image or text spread by "word of mouth" on the internet or by e-mail for humorous, political or marketing purposes; Of or relating to a biological virus; Caused by a virus; Of the nature of an informatic virus; able to spread copies of itself to other computers; Spread by word of mouth with minimal intervention in order to create “buzz” and interest.
Have you ever thought how viral dieting is?

Thankful is a State of Mind

Here are some of the things I am thankful for this year:

  • Not giving in to my food cravings.
  • Finding new healthy indulgences.
  • Maintaining the motivation to go to the gym regularly.
  • Weight Watchers for giving me the tools I need for healthy weight loss.
  • My boyfriend, Len, for making the journey with me.
  • Having discovered an amazing weight loss support group in my fellow bloggers.
  • My nightly bag of 94% fat free popcorn (couldn’t do it without you).
  • Being back in a size 10 (the 8’s are still waiting in my closet).
  • My personal trainer, Bryce, who makes me work harder than I have ever worked before.
  • My water aerobics instructor, Debbie, who is absolutely the best!
  • My determination to reach my weight loss goal.
  • Vita Tops, a yummy one point treat.
  • Dr. Praeger who sees that I eat my veggies in the best burger ever.
  • Fage, who makes me think I am eating something naughty when I eat my daily yogurt.
  • My scale for seeing me through my 21.4 pound weight loss.
I am so fortunate to have the support and encouragement of my family and friends. Thank you all. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Too Much, Too Fast

Have you been watching the The Biggest Loser? Don’t you wonder how those people can take off so much weight in such a short time? They have to live, breathe and eat (or not) weight loss! Is pushing yourself to the limit really worth it?
Depressingly, studies show that 80% of weight loss is gained back within 3 to 5 years. It’s also been demonstrated that if you lose weight too quickly the odds are against you and without a maintenance plan there is little hope for keeping it off.

So look at those Biggest Losers, they are dropping huge amounts of weight in astonishingly short time periods.
