Love the One You're With

Why is it we all want to be someone we're not? It seems that we are never completely satisfied with our original packaging. I've always wanted sleek, shiny straight Pantene hair instead of my unruly curls. Brunettes wonder what it would like to be blonde. Short people might want to add a few inches to their height. Small breasted girls resort to padded bras or silicone implants to become more well endowed. Bald men want hair. Noses, ears, bellies and eyes are all subject to our own harsh scrutiny. Why is it we are rarely satisfied?

Well, all of us plus sized people long to be thin; billion dollar businesses have profited from our plight. But the thin people, those skinny Minnies you see at the gym - what do they long for?

For those who haven't seen the humorous commercial for Booty Pop, they are padded underwear that are supposed to enhance your derriere, can you believe it? That's right, now anyone can have the nice round butt cheeks I've had for years (albeit a little too ample)

This video will make you laugh:

It is the rare person who is satisfied with what they have. The time has come for you to take a look in the mirror and recognize how beautiful you really are. Whatever your size, stop focusing on your flaws. You are beautiful. Look in the mirror, give yourself a big smile and remember to love the one you're with. You deserve it!

That picture cracked me up! Even at my thinnest, I have a "bubble butt." I used to hate it but have grown to appreciate it - either thanks for my husband (who loves it) or Beyonce.

But I agree - we always want whatever it is we don't have. I'm sure if we had it... we'd want something else.

Great post.

That's a hilarious video and product. Who woulda thunk that someone would be jealous of my booty? It wasn't until Hubbend that I realized it could be appreciated by anyone and I was just happy to find the only person in the world who did.

Huh...

That's such a funny commercial! It does such a good job that I'm tempted ... (not really!) :-)

I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be to sit down in that. O_o

I used to hate my hair--it's frizzy and curly. But I've learned how to manage it quite easily so that I love my curls now. :-)

That's hard for me to fathom. I can't recall a time in my life post-puberty when I wasn't trying to make my butt look smaller!

Great blog. I must confess that I asked my best friend about 15 years ago what would be my biggest 'figure flaw' when I got back to goal (I wanted to have realistic expectations) and she said 'when you are slim your butt is too flat'!

LOL, booty pop. Wow. I don't know. I see some skinny girls at the gym in make-up and I know they're just there to justify that they exercise. Then I see some really fit thin people and I honestly think they want to better their bodies and mind. Those are the people that motivate me to go back every day.

Hope you're having a good week! I moved my blog over to http://www.halfofjess.com

Please follow me there :) Your words always give me encouragement, so thank you!

Funny picture. I am like you it seems we always want to be like someone else. I personally would love to have my sisters body. She weighs around 110 lbs soaking wet.

Love your post.

That's all I would need. Something to make my ass look bigger than it already is. Makes you wonder. I always wanted a smaller bust....and most women want a bigger one. Go figure. Gotta love me! Love your blog, I will be back. Hugs, Kathleen

All I can say is that blond hair definintely gets more attention. For the couple of times I went blond, what a difference... Otherewise, I have to say I am ok with who I am... well, a little less of me and a little firmer me wouldn't be so bad.

Fun post! It's so true...always wished I was taller, slimmer and had curly hair. Still do!

One problem I don't have to worry about is whether I need to buy a "booty pop." Plenty of booty over here. But I agree with you that it's just more insanity about womens' bodies. One part's too thin, another's too ample. And if your natural backside is too booty-pop-ish then you need lipo, right? Crazy.

I come over here from my blog to check out my newest follower's blog and the first thing I see is booty pop! LMAO! Love it! Can't wait to come by and read more of your blog. Thanks for coming over to mine. :)

Bwahahahaha

No thanks, I have quite enough back there. It may not be 'booty-licious' but until it reduces a lot more it doesn't make sense to me to add more to it! ;)

Oh, man! If I could figure out a way to "share" (read: SELL) my excess booty-stock, I'd be rich! ;)

Yep, I did. Got a bloack of it from my supermarket. Yuzu is a type of citrus fruit (wikipedia to the rescue! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuzu). If you look under the Japanese food section of the article I used the ponzu sauce.

Very true words :o)

I am thining on top :o/ and for so long wanted my mane back lol... But now, I'm like 'nah, it's too hot in summer, and it adds time when I'm getting ready to go out' lol

We have to love ourselves and each other for who and what we are.

Honestly, I don't think I will ever have an issue with not having enough booty! (And that's OK.)

LOL! I think my booty popped a long time ago! Thanks for this post. It puts it all into perspective.

My mom once bought a "bootie". She put them on and then looked at the mirror and screamed and then giggled until we nearly peed ourselves. They are not natural looking!
